Wills and Living Trusts

With your will or living trust, you have the power to make a difference in the lives of the ones you love and the world's children. In the absence of a will or living trust, the government will make those personal decisions for you. A "no frills" or improperly drafted will may have the same negative consequences.

When writing or updating your will, you can also make a real difference in the lives of the children who depend on Charity International. Here are some common bequest options you can use.

  • Specific bequest: Determine a specific dollar amount or asset that you wish to leave to Charity International.
  • Residual bequest: After you have taken care of your loved ones, name Charity International to receive a percentage or all of your residuary estate.

Benefits

  • Your assets remain in your control during your lifetime.
  • You can modify your bequest if your circumstances change.
  • Whatever form of bequest you choose, it is not subject to federal estate or inheritance taxes and so significantly reduces the tax burden of your estate.
  • There is no limit on the estate tax deductions that can be taken for charitable bequests.
  • You can have the satisfaction now of knowing that your bequest will support Charity International in the way you intended when you are gone.
